CSR in Covid World

COVID-19 has led the world into completely unexpected and unchartered waters. Since Feb 2021, covid cases in India started escalating beyond anyone’s imagination. Daily COVID-19 cases continue to set record highs, with hospitals filled to capacity and in need of urgent supplies to cope with the increasing number of patients.  We have all seen the distressing images and heard the devastating stories that are making headlines daily.

As India deals with its worst health crisis in living memory, we want to do whatever we can to help. In our quest to help people around us, a group of professionals (starting with IIMB batch of 2002) started identifying the most critical challenges covid patients are facing that can be addressed through collective effort of common people. We recognized that due to covid’s direct attack on a person’s lung system, ensuring oxygen support is critical for patient care. However oxygen concentrators that can provide life-saving support to patients are expensive and have been in very short supply.

We therefore set out to silent a problem by addressing all three aspects of the equation:

  1. raising funds though acquire oxygen concentrators (OCs)
  2. sourcing OCs from vendors all over the world in the midst of sudden exponential demand and very limited stock
  3. Identifying the right partners underground to deploy the OC’s and ensure effective management to maximize impact
